This project called for the design of a showroom and related service spaces to display a range of finely crafted joinery designed and manufactured by the owner.

The front of the site opens onto 6th street in Parkhurst, a busy linear strip mall along which most of the existing 500m2 properties have been repurposed for use as businesses. The back of the site shares a boundary with a typical suburban plot.   

 

The design weaves the program of the building together with the contrasting commercial and domestic conditions at either end of the site. Through this process the overall form, spatial planning and detailing of the building evolved.
